Ras Al Khaimah
RAK Digital Assets Oasis: real costs, licences and review
The world's first free zone built only for Web3 and digital assets.
Our view
RAK DAO launched in 2023 as a jurisdiction dedicated entirely to digital-asset and Web3 companies — DAOs, protocol teams, NFT projects, blockchain developers. It is designed for non-regulated digital-asset activity: building, developing and holding, rather than custody or exchange.
That distinction is the one that matters and the one most often glossed over. If you intend to hold client assets, run an exchange or offer regulated financial services, you need VARA (Dubai) or FSRA (ADGM), not RAK DAO. If you are a development team or a token project, RAK DAO is cheaper and faster than either.
The zone is young and the regulatory perimeter is still settling. Get written confirmation that your specific activity is permitted before paying anyone.
