International Free Zone Authority: real costs, licences and review
The default choice for consultants and small trading companies that want speed and a low entry price.
Our view
IFZA relocated from Fujairah to Dubai Silicon Oasis in 2021 and has since become the highest-volume free zone in the consultant channel. It is built around a partner network rather than direct sales, which means almost every package is sold through an agent — pricing is therefore negotiable in a way that DMCC or DIFC pricing is not.
The practical appeal is simple: no physical office requirement on the base package, a licence issued in a matter of days, and a dual-licence option that lets you add activities without a second entity. The trade-off is prestige. An IFZA licence does not open doors with conservative corporate banks the way a DMCC or DIFC licence does, and some European counterparties still read a Silicon Oasis address as a shell.
For a solo founder invoicing consulting or digital services from outside the UAE, IFZA is usually the right economic answer. For anyone who needs institutional banking on day one, it is worth paying more elsewhere.

Honestly
What works
- Among the lowest entry prices in Dubai
- No office required on base package
- Licence in 2-5 working days
- Dual licence covers multiple activities
What doesn't
- Weaker banking reputation than DMCC/DIFC
- Visa quota capped without a real office
- Renewal pricing can jump sharply in year two
- Sold almost exclusively through agents — pricing is opaque
Who this suits
- Solo consultants and agencies
- Small import/export traders
- Holding structures
- Founders optimising for entry cost
