Dubai Multi Commodities Centre: real costs, licences and review
The prestige address. Expensive, demanding, and the one that makes banking straightforward.
Our view
DMCC has been named the world's leading free zone for several consecutive years and hosts well over 20,000 member companies in Jumeirah Lake Towers. For a founder, the number that matters is not the award — it is that UAE compliance officers treat a DMCC licence as a positive signal. Opening a corporate account with a tier-one bank is materially easier here than from a northern-emirate flexi-desk.
That reputation is bought with cost and process. DMCC requires a real office or a co-working desk inside JLT, runs genuine due diligence on shareholders, and its fee schedule has more line items than the cheaper zones. Expect the first year to land at roughly double an IFZA setup once office and visa costs are included.
DMCC is also the mature choice for commodities, precious metals and regulated crypto activity, with an established framework rather than the improvised approach of some newer zones. If your business will hold client money, trade physical goods at scale, or raise outside capital, the premium is usually justified. If you are a solo consultant invoicing €150k a year, it is not.
